2012 1st Quarter Housing Market Update

The traditional selling season is promising to be the best we've seen in years in northern Indiana, with buyers starting to jump into the marketplace.

In a comparison of the 1st Qtr 2011 to the 1sr Qtr 2012, numbers are up almost across the board for both Elkhart and St. Joseph counties of Indiana.

     ELKHART COUNTY
  • The number of closed home sales increased 7.2% to 359
  • The median sales price of those homes increased 9.8% to $87,750
     ST JOSHEPH COUNTY
  • The number of closed home sales increased 34.5% to 542
  • The median sales price of those homes dropped 2.2% to $90,000
It's still a fragile recovery and more Indiana workers need to get back to work and have confidence in their long-term job security.  But for now, all things seem to be pointed in the right direction.
